Seek out opportunities to support advocacy efforts to reduce policy barriers that prevent grocers from locating in urban neighborhoods. The Greater Kansas City Food Policy Coalition recently conducted a year long engagement process through the Grocery Store Access Task Force, a bi-state initiative that engaged policy makers and grocery representatives to identify and address the barriers for locating grocery stores in urban core neighborhoods. The Food Policy Coalition is currently developing a policy agenda that will address barriers. The Healthy Foods Leadership network can track efforts to implement the policy agenda and join advocacy efforts to encourage better grocery store access in Marlborough.
